Graduate 2026 Scheme - Control Systems Engineer - Prodigy SCADA / Instrumentation & Control
Get Hands-On with Industrial Control Systems & Real-World Engineering Projects
We’re looking for practical, enthusiastic engineers who are curious about how things work, enjoy solving real-world problems, and want to develop their skills in SCADA and Instrumentation & Control (I&C).
If you’re the type of person who wants to see how sensors, control systems, and industrial processes come together - this is the perfect role.
Who Are We?
We’re Tascomp, a UK-based control systems company with over 40 years’ experience developing SCADA and monitoring systems that are used across industries - from aerospace and engine testing to pharmaceuticals and manufacturing.
Our core SCADA product, Prodigy, has been developed in-house by our engineering teams and is trusted by leading organisations across the UK and globally.
We also supply:
- PlantRun – production performance monitoring systems
- PAMS – air traffic control alarm management systems (civil & MOD)
But this role will primarily focus on Prodigy SCADA applications, integrating with sensors, PLCs, and other I&C hardware to build tailored control systems.
What Will You Be Doing?
You’ll join our Applications Team, working on a wide range of SCADA and control projects from design through to delivery.
Key tasks will include:
- Interfacing with sensors, instrumentation, and PLCs - understanding I/O signals and real-world data capture
- Configuring and customising Prodigy SCADA systems for different industries and applications
- Creating intuitive status displays, dashboards, and trend reports
- Developing control logic and automation sequences
- Setting up and testing systems in our workshop environment
- Visiting customer sites for commissioning and support
- Running Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
- Working closely with customer engineers to integrate with their processes
- Writing functional design specifications and project documentation
- Providing training and support to end users
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be working with real machines, real sensors, and real processes - not just coding behind a desk.
What’s In It for You?
- Clear path for career progression - with no salary cap
- Flexitime and Lieu Time to maintain work-life balance
- Loyalty holiday scheme (up to 30 days leave)
- 14%+ pension contribution (with salary sacrifice uplift)
- Free parking at our site
- Exposure to diverse industries: aerospace, pharma, automotive, energy, and more
- Learn from a team of experienced SCADA engineers
What we are looking for?
We’re more interested in your practical mindset and enthusiasm than years of experience. If you have a genuine interest in SCADA, sensors, PLCs, and control systems, we can train you.
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Instrumentation, IT, or Science
- A practical, problem-solving attitude - comfortable working with hardware and software
- Self-motivated and able to work independently when needed
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Full driving licence (max 3 points)
- Proof of right to work in the UK
Desirable (but we’ll train the right person):
- Understanding of I/O signals (4-20mA, voltage, pulse counts, etc.)
- Familiarity with PLC integration
- Basic programming/scripting knowledge
- Understanding of real-time data collection and process control
- Experience with UI/UX design for operator interfaces
- Knowledge of databases and reporting tools
- Interest in AI / Machine Learning in manufacturing
You’ll Thrive Here If You:
- Enjoy hands-on problem solving
- Are curious about how sensors and control systems interact
- Like working on varied, real-world projects
- Want to learn from experienced engineers and see the impact of your work
- Are enthusiastic, practical, and not afraid to get stuck in on-site
Apply Now and Build Control Systems That Matter
If you’re ready to kick-start your career in SCADA and I&C with a supportive team, working on exciting and challenging projects - we’d love to hear from you.
You will begin your role in Summer 2026.
