Popup Displays

Prodigy's Display Builder facility enables any display to support multiple 'popup' display windows.

These displays can be configured to appear at any pre-defined size and location. They can appear with the usual Windows borders and controls, allowing them to be moved, resized and exited, or can be configured with no surround at all so as to blend in with the background display.

Popups allow multiple displays to share common items such as navigation buttons or important status information, simplifying the configuration process, especially if these items are shared by a lot of displays.

A right-click option on any display allows that display to be launched as a popup. This can be particularly useful. For instance, if you have just spent some time setting up a historic trend display to show the signals, time period and zoom level required to investigate a problem and then need to navigate to another display to make some control action. Simply right-click and set the trend display to be a popup and it will launch in its own window, ready for you to return to when ready.

Popups are displayed in “frames” that are referenced by number. If more than one popup references the same frame, that frame’s content is replaced. This allows you to specify a fixed area of the screen where a variety of information is displayed depending on which popup occupies the frame.

Alternatively content can be configured to occupy the next available frame that is not already being used, useful for content that you always want to display without overwriting frames that are already in use. Up to 50 frames may be displayed at any one time.

Each Display can be configured to launch any number of popups when that display is opened, or popups can be launched by buttons on the display or by SLANG extensions. Popups can themselves launch further popups.
